‘Falcon & Winter Soldier’: Kevin Feige Says There Are “Certainly Ideas” For A Season 2

We are mere days away from the premiere of Marvel Studios’ second series, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.” And just as it was with “WandaVision” a few months ago, people are already asking Kevin Feige if there will be a second season of ‘Falcon’… before the first episode even debuts. And much like he did with the previous Disney+ series from earlier this year, the Marvel Studios President isn’t confirming nor denying that a Season 2 is in the works. But he did tease that there are ideas.

Speaking at a press conference (via Deadline), Kevin Feige teased “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” and talked about the possibility that there are more episodes of the show that could be coming in a future Season 2. But that’s not a guarantee.

“We get asked [that question] much more in television, because people expect it to be like what they know before: Where’s Season 2?” said Feige. “We approached it like the movies: We better make this great, because we won’t be able to do another one.”

That said, he did add, “If we’re able to do another one, there’s certainly ideas.”

Honestly, the question about future seasons is something Feige will be asked before every new series that debuts over the next couple of years. With a dozen or so series in various stages of development, Marvel Studios is banking big on the superhero Disney+ space. And we already have seen reports that “Loki” is prepping for a second season, while “What If?” is already into development of a follow-up season. Both of which have yet to air first seasons.

And the big difference between those series, along with ‘Falcon,’ as compared to “WandaVision” is that the former focus on characters that could have a continuing story that isn’t so tied into the gimmick, while the latter is such a unique, one-and-done experience that it’s difficult to even begin to figure out where another season might go. Sure, Scarlet Witch is going to be featured more down the line, but “WandaVision” isn’t a show that has more story to tell. At least, nothing obvious. Whereas “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” could easy continue the story in the future, just teaming up those characters in new adventures. Probably going to need a retitle though, as everyone fully expects Falcon to inherit the Captain America name.

So, who knows? Maybe we’ll have “Captain America and Bucky” as a Disney+ series in the future? For now, you’ll just have to be okay with “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” which debuts March 19.
