After everything is all said and done in 2021, it’s likely that “F9,” the latest addition to the “Fast & Furious’ franchise, could end up as the biggest box office hit of the year. In a world where “The Suicide Squad” and “Black Widow” are putting up fairly disappointing numbers, Vin Diesel’s action film is bringing cinemas hope that maybe things will turn around. So, you have to imagine all those theaters are excited that Universal has officially announced the release date for “Fast & Furious 10,” though it’s still two years away.
According to Variety, “Fast & Furious 10” will arrive on April 7, 2023. Filming is expected to begin at the beginning of 2022, and there’s a chance Vin Diesel and his ‘Fast’ family will produce both the 10th and 11th films, which are supposed to end the main franchise, back-to-back.
Not much is known about the content of “Fast & Furious 10,” though Diesel has been open with the fact that the final two films act as one big story that is so huge, it takes two features to tell it. And we have to believe him right? When has Vin Diesel ever used hyperbolic statements to talk about the ‘Fast’ franchise?
All kidding aside, after seeing “F9,” it’s clear there’s no limit to the ridiculousness of the franchise and where director Justin Lin is willing to take it. Time travel? Multiverse? Superpowers? A car driving on another car that is on top of an airplane that is traveling 60,000 feet above the ground? Sure, why not? There’s truly nothing that is off the table. Fans are willing to go for the ride, so to speak.
So, even though it’s a bit under two years away, people are going to be excited to know “Fast & Furious 10” is coming on April 7, 2023.
