'Fatherhood' Trailer: Kevin Hart Stars In Adaptation of Matthew Logelin's Beloved Memoir July 18

Best known for his stand-up and countless comedic roles, Kevin Hart, has rarely treaded into the territory of dramatic films. The closest he’s gotten is 2011’s “Let Go” and 2017’s “The Upside,” an American remake of the French film, “The Intouchables.”

It looks like Hart’s next foray into more serious acting is less treading than a full-fledged plunge. “Fatherhood,” coming to Netflix this June, is based on Matt Logelin‘s 2011 memoir, “Two Kisses For Maddy: A Memoir Of Loss and Love.” Logelin’s book follows his journey of raising his daughter Maddy after Liz, his wife, and high school sweetheart, suddenly dies just twenty-seven hours after giving birth.

Alongside Hart, “Fatherhood” also stars Alfre Woodard, Melody Hurd, Anthony Carrigan, Lil Rel Howery, and Paul ReiserDeWanda Wise, Deborah Ayorinde, and Teneisha Collins round out the main cast.

Paul Weitz, one of the brainchildren behind the original “American Pie” film, directs the film. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Dana Stevens, her first writing credit since 2013’s “Safe Haven,” another adaptation.

After many Covid-related schedule shifts, Netflix licensed the film from Sony Pictures and will release it on their platform in June. Sony retains the film’s licensing rights in China and all transactional home entertainment windows beyond Netflix.
