A24 Films and director Larry Charles (“Borat“) are teaming up for an R-rated musical titled “F*cking Identical Twins” with the studio handling the global release and Chernin Entertainment is involved as well. The film stars and is written by Aaron Jackson and Josh Sharp—featuring original songs by Jackson, Sharp, and Karl Saint Lucy—based on the triumvirate’s original two-man stage show that premiered at the Upright Citizens Brigade in 2014.
It’s been announced that the cast is growing with seasoned broadway actor Nathan Lane (“Only Murders In The Building“), Megan Mullally (“Will & Grace“), rising comedic voice Bowen Yang (“SNL“), and professional musician Megan Thee Stallion, who is known for her popular bubblegum sex-positive music videos that have been seen as somewhat controversial.

Currently in production, “F*cking Identical Twins” is a subversive musical spin on “The Parent Trap,” following two business adversaries who realize they’re identical twin brothers and decide to switch places in order to reunite their divorced parents and become a family again. The musical’s creative team includes Grammy Award-winning producer Marius de Vries (“La La Land,” “Moulin Rouge,” “Coda“) as executive music producer and Fiora Cutler will serve as film’s music supervisor overseeing cast musical direction with de Vries.
Lane also is part of the cast of A24’s “Disappointment Blvd.” from director Ari Aster and has a supporting role in Hulu‘s comedic murder mystery series “Only Murders In The Building.”
It’ll be interesting to see if A24 will continue to expand into other film genres as they keep attracting stellar creative talent and continue to be one of the few studios that have a pretty reliable eye for quality projects.
