Felicity Jones Wins Lead In 'Star Wars' Spin-Off, Aaron Paul & Edgar Ramirez Rumored For Male Lead

Felicity Jones, Star WarsOver the past week, various sites picked up a barely sourced rumor that "Orphan Black" star Tatiana Maslany had won the lead role in the brewing "Star Wars" spinoff slated to be directed by Gareth Edwards. It’s true that she was in the running along with Rooney Mara and Kate Mara, but the gig has gone to Felicity Jones.

THR reports that the Oscar-nominated "The Theory Of Everything" actress has bagged the role. An unconfirmed rumor has Chris Weitz writing the script for the movie that’s rumored to be about a group of bounty hunters who steal the plans for the Death Star. Meanwhile, Aaron Paul (recently rumored to play a young Han Solo, which he has denied) and Edgar Ramirez are being tossed around as potential candidates for the male lead.

That’s all for now. But much more will be coming as this film gears up to start production. The untitled "Star Wars" joint will land on December 16, 2016.
