First 'A Clockwork Orange'-Inspired Poster For Rowan Joffé's 'Brighton Rock'

Here’s a look at the first teaser poster for Rowan Joffé’s “Brighton Rock” which harks back to Stanley Kubrick’s “A Clockwork Orange” and that film’s protagonist, Alex DeLarge.

Starring Sam Riley and Andrea Riseborough, the adaptation of Graham Greene’s underworld thriller follows an evidently DeLarge-esque sociopathic, up-and-coming gangster in 1964, who marries a naive waitress after she stumbles onto evidence linking him to a murder. John Hurt and Helen Mirren co-star as an older couple trying to save Riseborough’s character from her marriage.

Young thesps Riley and Riseborough certainly make for a promising teaming while Joffé is hoping for continued success on his feature directorial debut, after helming a BAFTA-winning TV effort in “The Shooting of Thomas Hurndall,” writing Anton Corbijn’s upcoming “The American” and co-scribing the Danny Boyle produced “28 Weeks Later.” Interestingly, Carey Mulligan was originally set to lead the film with Riley but dropped out presumably to do Oliver Stone’s “Wall Street” sequel.

No word yet on when the film is being released after shooting completed late last year.
