If the curse is lifted, all things go according to plan, Terry Gilliam will finally make “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote” in 2014. Really. The director has long talked about re-mounting the project, wavering from being about ready to give up on the long gestating project, to spending most of the fall announcing it would be shooting this year. Indeed, it was recently that Gilliam revealed an October 3rd start date for the movie, while also adding the film indeed had financing. And now he’s sharing new his new vision for the project.
The filmmaker hit Facebook over the weekend to share some concept art for the movie, with the following message: “Dreams of Don Quixote have begun again. Dave Warren has started doodling. Will we get the old bastard back on his horse this year? Human sacrifices welcomed. Stay tuned.”
Dave Warren is a production design and art director who worked on Gilliam’s “The Zero Theorem” as well on films like “Hugo,” “Snow White And The Huntsman,” “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street,” “Your Highness” and more. Not bad. And it’s surely a heckuva teaser image for what’s to come. But as always, nothing is straightforward with Gilliam and who knows what bumps in the road he may in encounter before October. But here’s hoping they’re small ones so he can finally get his dream project off the ground.
