First Image From Ben Wheatley's 'A Field In England' Arrives Plus New Trailer For 'Sightseers'

nullBen Wheatley is a busy guy. Even as we chatted with him at TIFF about "Sightseers," he was already in pre-production on his next movie, "A Field In England," which again finds him shifting gears in fascinating ways. A period movie that will be both in black and white and color, and a production that will find him building his own camera lenses from scratch, we can only imagine the final result will be a bit more trippy than this first image.

According to this blog post from Film4, it seems production has already wrapped on the film, which stars Michael Smiley ("Kill List"), Peter Ferdinando ("Tony"), Reece Shearsmith ("The League of Gentlemen"), Julian Barratt ("The Mighty Boosh"), Richard Glover ("Sightseers") and Ryan Pope ("Ideal"). Here's the synopsis:

The film follows a small group of deserters fleeing from a raging battle through an overgrown field. As they are captured by O’Neil, an alchemist, they are forced to aid him in his search to find a hidden treasure that he believes is buried in the field.

Crossing a vast mushroom circle, which provides their first meal, the group quickly descend into a chaos of arguments, fighting and paranoia, and, as it becomes clear that the treasure might be something other than gold, they slowly become victim to the terrifying energies trapped inside the field.

So, yeah. Sounds potentially amazing. If that's not enough Wheatley for you, a new trailer/TV spot for his latest, "Sightseers," has landed. Starring Alice Lowe and Steve Oram, it's a road trip movie with a funny, very dark bent to it. It's the kind of picture probably best going into cold, but this spot doesn't give too much away. It opens in the U.K. on November 30th, and stateside in early 2013.
