First Images Of Jessica Chastain & Colin Farrell In Liv Ullman's 'Miss Julie'

nullAfter two Oscar nominations in a row, and one of the best performances of the decade so far in “Zero Dark Thirty,” all eyes have been on what Jessica Chastain would do next. While the actress has lined up some major projects — teaming with Guillermo del Toro on Crimson Peak and Christopher Nolan on Interstellar — the star’s first move was to do something lower key; an adaptation of August Strindberg‘s seminal play of sexual politics and class, “Miss Julie.”

Directed by the great Liv Ullman, the film will see Chastain in the title role, the daughter of a wealthy landowner who seduces the valet (Colin Farrell), to the dismay of his lover (Samantha Morton). It’s a great play with a great cast and a perfectly suited director, and with production underway in Northern Ireland (where the film will now be set), Screen Daily have the first images from the project. Take a look at Ms. Chastain above, and you can see Farrell in character, and Ullman on set below. There’s no word yet on when “Miss Julie” will be done, but if we’re lucky, maybe it’ll be in time for the fall festival season.
