First Listen: Bruce Springsteen's Titular Track For 'The Wrestler'

Seems as though the entire blogosphere cannot get enough of “The Wrestler,” recently picked up by Fox Searchlight for its stateside distribution. Besides Mickey Rourke’s lauded performance, the prospect of hearing Bruce Springsteen’s original track which is to play over the closing credits has caused quite the stir over the past few days. Right on time, as per usual, Kris Tapley of In Contention got his hands on a rough copy of the track that some thoughtful TIFFgoer recorded at a screening of the Aronofsky helmed film. It has a distinctly vintage vibe, soulful and mournful, with the folksy musician at his best. From what I can hear, like I said the recording is but muffled, it is a great standalone track. Imagining how it must sound attached to the Golden Lion-winning film is causing majorly embarrassing salivation on my part. Move over Peter Gabriel, Springsteen for the Oscar.
