The “Inception” soundtrack details are obviously already out there and now Amazon has snippets of the 12-track score by Hans Zimmer for those that want a teaser of what the music will sound like. It’s pretty bold, operatic, thrilling and grand-sounding, and even reminds us of shades of Kubrick at first (there’s also a few “techno” like moments that will probably sound better in context).
Johnny Marr (The Smiths, Modest Mouse, Electronic) played on several tracks and you can hear his subtle influence here and there (he’s always been a gloriously complex, but restrained in-the-pocket player).
While all of it is a great listen, the final track “Time” is particularly good, emotional, ascending and gorgeous. We can only imagine the kind of cinematic crescendo it’s going to be juxtaposed to (something with Marion Cotillard’s character we’re sure).
The soundtrack will hit stores on July 13th and we don’t think we need to remind you “Inception” opens a few days later on July 16th. Sadly, none of the remarkable songs in the trailer by Mike Zarin (who did the music for the teaser) and Zack Hemsey will be featured on the disc.
