First Look: Al Pacino In David Gordon Green's 'Manglehorn' & Russell Crowe's Directorial Debut 'The Water Diviner'

Manglehorn

As always, trying to pin down David Gordon Green is a fool’s errand, which is part of what makes whatever he’s working on next so exciting. And with “Joe” in the can and headed to theaters later this year (trailer here), the flimmaker is already in the home stretch of his next effort “Manglehorn,” and the first taste of what he’s cooking up has arrived.

Starring Al Pacino, Holly Hunter, Chris Messina and Harmony Korine (!), this looks like another low key offering from Green, with the film telling the story of an ex-con trying to start over as a locksmith in a small town, but despite attempts to lie low, his dark past is constantly in danger of being exposed. Frankly, we’re just excited to see what Green can get out of Pacino, after he pulled what is being called the best performance in years from Nicolas Cage in “Joe.”

Meanwhile, Russell Crowe is hard at work on his directorial debut “The Water Diviner.” He also stars in the pic, alongside Olga Kurylenko, Jai Courtney, Damon Herriman and more, in the period drama following a father who searches for his sons in Turkey following the Gallipoli war, striking up a relationship with Turkish woman along the way. Production is underway, and see what it looks like below via Variety.
