Here’s a first look at Amanda Seyfried rocking a red bob with a very un-Sean Parker-like Justin Timberlake on the set of Andrew Niccol‘s sci-fi thriller possibly titled “Now.”
The two reunite after supporting roles in Nick Cassavetes‘ “Alpha Dog,” but now find themselves as leads with Timberlake playing a rebel from the ghetto who is falsely accused of murder and is forced to go on the run with Seyfried’s beautiful hostage. The story though is, of course, set in a world where time has become a currency with the rich achieving immortality and never aging past 25. Vincent Kartheiser co-stars as Seyfried’s father, Olivia Wilde as Timberlake’s mother, Johnny Galecki as Timberlake’s alcoholic best friend, Cillian Murphy as a law enforcer known as a ‘timekeeper’ and Collins Pennie as Murphy’s right hand man.
It’s been far too long between drinks for Niccol, whose most recent efforts didn’t exactly live up to hype of his brilliant debut, “Gattaca,” which was shortly followed by a writing and producing credit on Peter Weir’s “The Truman Show.” Hopefully, he can replicate that type of compelling high concept science fiction with this, a joint production between Strike Entertainment trio Eric Newman, Marc Abraham and Kristel Laiblin.
The project, formerly and horribly titled “I’m.mortal,” is currently shooting and is probably a good bet a for second half 2011 release through 20th Century Fox. [JustJared/Zimbio/DailyMail]
