First Look: Amy Adams And Christoph Waltz In Tim Burton's 'Big Eyes'

Big EyesIt’s a scandal that occupies a curious corner of art history, but this Oscar season, it’s being brought to the big screen. Tim Burton turns his eye to something less fantastical with this upcoming "Big Eyes," telling the story of art enthusiasts Margaret and Walter Keane, who rose to prominence thanks to the titular paintings. However, when their relationship dissolved, Margaret took Walter to court, claiming he took credit for the paintings she actually created, leading to one of the most bizarre things to ever happen during a legal proceeding — a paint off.

"Margaret really believed that as a woman, people would not buy her art," Amy Adams, who plays the artist in Burton’s movie, told USA Today. "[Walter] convinced her the life they were able to lead was because the artist was a man, who could sell more art at a higher price than a woman." And playing opposite Adams is Christoph Waltz, which hopefully promises a pretty explosive acting showdown.

"Big Eyes" opens on Christmas Day.
