First Look At Alex Proyas' 'Paradise Lost' & (Supposed) New Peek At Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus'

Cosplay outfits are headed to the dry cleaner and weary geeks are heading bleary eyed onto planes back to their homes around the world, and thus wraps another Comic-Con, but with the deluge of news and bits and pieces of info, stories from San Diego will continue over the next day or so. While the financial impact of studios bringing their wares to Comic-Con is still debatable, it’s undeniable that these few days in California are quickest way to get at least some (fleeting) attention on new projects. And thus, we have two more peeks at some big projects on the horizon.

Even though filming won’t begin until later this year, Legendary Pictures is eager to get the word out about Alex Proyas‘ massive, mo-cap adaptation of “Paradise Lost.” Starring Bradley Cooper as Lucifer himself, the story will focus on the epic battle between Michael and Lucifer that will include aerial warfare in some shape or form. The extensive digital effects will mean the film will spend twenty weeks in pre-production, eight weeks in principal photography and will have 72 weeks of post-production. So no surprise, this one won’t be hitting theaters until 2013 but you can probably bet Proyas and Cooper will hit San Diego hard next summer. Official synopsis below:

Lucifer and Michael, God’s greatest archangels, share the bond of extraordinary friendship until God produces his greatest creation: Man. Unable to remain subservient to God if it means bowing down to humanity, Lucifer begins his dark descent and is cast out – only to plot his revenge.

One of the most eagerly anticipated presentations this year was for “Prometheus” and while there was a lack of footage largely because Ridley Scott is still in the midst of shooting the film — he actually spoke to the Comic-Con crowd via video from Iceland — excitement was not in short supply. Charlize Theron revealed that her character will be at the head of The Company, the corporation known as Weyland-Yutani, who are present throughout the “Alien” films, while Scott said he was prepping both PG-13 and R-rated versions of the film with a decision to be made on which will hit theaters down the line. But perhaps what got tongues wagging the most was a mysterious first look at the film and now, apparently, another one has landed.

Of course, the provenance of this pic remains unknown and it kind of looks like a set photo instead of an official still to be honest, but if it’s legit, it does reveal perhaps some kind of Earth bound sequence before shit gets crazy up in outer space. “Prometheus” hits on June 8, 2012. [ComingSoon/Bloody Disgusting] Update: Our instincts were correct. This is a set photo, not an official 2nd look at “Prometheus.”
