First Look At Cast Of 'Snow White And The Huntsman' Promises Dark Take On The Classic Fairy Tale

Yes, two Snow White movies are on the way in 2012 with Relativity getting out of the gate first with Tarsem Singh‘s (still) untitled and currently filming project and Universal following with “Snow White and the Huntsman.” And while the source material may be the same, it looks like we’re in for two very different films. We got our first look at Lily Collins in the former film just a few days ago and it was a spectacularly colorful, yet still prim, proper and pretty look at our titular hero. But it seems ‘Huntsman’ will be quite the opposite.

Universal Pictures has dropped pics of the principal cast of the forthcoming Rupert Sanders-directed film and it’s definitely impressive. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Sam Clafin, Lily Cole and Sam Spruell, the film is a retelling of the classic fairy tale in which the woodsman (Hemsworth), who is meant to bump off the titular princess (Stewart), winds up training her instead to fight her evil stepmother (Theron). Theron looks absolutely great and sexy as the dagger-wielding stepmom, while Hemsworth is appropriate beefy as our hero, with tough-as-nails Stewart ready to rock in some armour. Hell, even the princely Clafin looks ready to kick some ass. The cast is rounded out by the dwarves played by Ian McShane, Toby Jones, Bob Hoskins, Eddie Marsan, Stephen Graham, Ray Winstone and Nick Frost, but no peeks at them just yet.

All in all, the Snow White battle isn’t over but moreover, it looks like we’re getting two wildly different pics which is fine by us. “Snow White and the Huntsman” will start shooting this fall and is slated for a June 1, 2012 release. Check out more pics of the cast below.
