First Look At Diane Kruger, Lea Seydoux & Virginie Ledoyen In 'Farewell, My Queen'

A film we’ve been keeping an eye on is Benoit Jacquot‘s “Farewell, My Queen.” Admittedly, some of it is for purely superficial reasons — our hounddog baying and tailwagging for the trio of lead actresses Diane Kruger, Lea Seydoux and Virginie Ledoyen might be a tad uncouth — but it’s also a period flick tackling none other than Marie Antoinette, a subject always good for big screen cinema.

A lengthy behind-the-scenes was recently aired on CanalPlus and someone over at ONTD did the diligent work of snagging pics of the actors in clips, giving us our first taste of the film. An adaptation of Chantal Thomas’ novel, Kruger will play Marie Antoinette with Seydoux as a reader to her royal majesty during the final days of the French Revolution. Ledoyen stars as Marie’s BFF, the Duchesse de Polignac, while Gerard Depardieu‘s role is still being kept under wraps.

Filming started in May and will finish up next month, with a late 2011 or early 2012 release in France already set. No word if it will cross the ocean, but we hope so. Check out more pics below.
