First Look: Brad Pitt As Jackie Cogan In Andrew Dominik's 'Cogan's Trade'

With principal photography now wrapped on Andrew Dominik‘s adaptation of George V. Higgins‘ “Cogan’s Trade,” a new image of star Brad Pitt as the titular Jackie Cogan has been unveiled.

It’s a look we’re already familiar with from poor paparazzi snaps and we’re not sure if it’s an “official still,” so to speak, as it’s simply described as Pitt “pictured on set” but, either way, here’s the actor as the professional enforcer hired to investigate the robbery of a mob-protected poker game perpetrated by two junkies played by Scoot McNairy (“Monsters“) and Ben Mendelsohn (“Animal Kingdom“). Also co-starring are Ray Liotta as the hustler running the game, Richard Jenkins as a lawyer with inside info, James Gandolfini as a washed-up alcoholic hit man, Vincent Curatola as a middle-aged ex-con seeking revenge, plus Bella Heathcote and Sam Shepherd in unknown roles.

The Weinstein Company has already scored domestic distribution rights for Dominik’s follow up to “The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford” and are reportedly eyeing an early 2012 theatrical release forwhat will certainly feature highly in our Most Anticipated Films of 2012. Word of warning though: this will probably be something more along the lines of Dominik’s stellar debut, criminal biopic “Chopper,” i.e. a mix of twisted dark comedy, drama and gruesome violence — which provided the breakout role for Eric Bana — rather than ‘Jesse James’ lyrical and Malick-ian atmosphere.
