Little has been made of Danis Tanovic’s Colin Farrell-led and produced, “Triage,” with the film only coming onto our radar when it was announced at this year’s Toronto Internatonal Film Festival. Now, courtesy of TIFF website, here’s your first look at the drama – the synopsis is as follows:
Mark (Farrell), a war photographer, returns home from Kurdistan without his friend and colleague David. As time goes on, it becomes clear that Mark holds the key to the truth of David’s disappearance.
Sounds vague, and probably purposefully so, perhaps there are spoilers they don’t want to give away.
Also starring Paz Vega, Christopher Lee, Jamie Sives and Kelly Reilly, Tanovic will direct from his own adaptation of Scott Anderson’s book which apparently saw its lead, Farrell, do a ‘Christian Bale’ and lose up to 40 pounds for his role (ah so that’s why he was skeletal a few month ago).. It’ll be interesting to see how Farrell fares in 2009 after last year’s success with Martin McDonagh’s “In Bruges” that culminated in a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical and nominations for Best Picture and Best Actor for Brendon Gleeson.
Helmer Tanovic also has had some recent award-season success in 2002 with his excellent “No Man’s Land” picture winning the best foreign-language film Oscar that year. [TIFF]
