While Mary Shelley‘s "Frankenstein" has inspired no shortage of movie versions, the reason it still resonates is not only the timeless story of a mad scientist playing God, but the way the material can be creatively spun. "Chronicle" writer Max Landis has put pen to paper for "Victor Frankenstein" and the first look at the upcoming horror is here.
Starring Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy, the twist is that this iteration focuses on the relationship between Victor von Frankenstein and his assistant Igor, but of course, they must deal with the reanimated creature. “As much as the monster is his creation, Igor is his creation as well,” McAvoy told Empire. “That was quite exciting. It’s funny, the script, but also really dark, in a cool way." Here’s the official synopsis:
When Dr. Victor Frankenstein (James McAvoy) and his trusted assistant Igor (Daniel Radcliffe) go too far in their noble attempts to aid humanity, Victor’s obsession turns to madness. He then unleashes his final creation –a monstrous figure that holds unimaginable terror for anyone its path.
"Victor Frankenstein" arrives on October 2nd.
