Following a busy 2013 getting the word out for “All Is Lost,” director J.C. Chandor isn’t wasting a moment, and is already back to work with his next movie, “A Most Violent Year.” And with A24 already planning a fall awards season release, we’re not having to wait long at all for our first glimpses of the film.
Indeed, Jessica Chastain has already wrapped her work on the movie and on Facebook showed her fans her new look in the ’80s set film. Co-starring Oscar Isaac, Albert Brooks and Alfred Molina, the film centers on an immigrant trying to make it in the no-holds-barred world of New York City. Here’s the official synopsis:
A MOST VIOLENT YEAR is a thriller set in New York City during the winter of 1981, statistically one of the most violent years in the city’s history. The film follows the lives of an immigrant (Oscar Isaac) and his family trying to expand their business and capitalize on opportunities as the rampant violence, decay, and corruption of the day drag them in and threaten to destroy all they have built.
Damn, sounds pretty great. And one more reason to get excited? Bradford Young, the cinematographer who made us sit up and take notice of his work on “Pariah,” “Mother Of George” and “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints,” is lensing Chandor’s film. All the ingredients are here for something special and we can’t wait to see the result. Look out for this one later this year.
