First Look: Josh Brolin As 'Jonah Hex'; 'Total Recall Remake Is On; Paul Haggis Remaking French Thriller 'Pour Elle'

Here’s your first look (two different pics to show off that mangled face) at Josh Brolin as the title character in next year’s “Jonah Hex.” Geeks are jazzed. We love Brolin, but hope this one is better than the reportedly godawful script. [AICN]

British actor Brian Blessed has reportedly been cast as Odin, the father of Thor and Loki, in Kenneth Branagh’s “Thor.” Blessed, who is known for a particularly booming voice, has previously worked with Branagh on several British productions. [BleedingCool]

Kurt Wimmer is reportedly writing a remake of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi vehicle “Total Recall.” Wimmer has recently written the Angelina Jolie led spy film “Salt” and “Law Abiding Citizen,” an upcoming thriller which will star Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler. We hate remakes and reboots. Come ge an original idea already, Hollywood. [Variety]

Jeff Nathanson will now also direct the Harry Houdini action-thriller as well as scribing it. The film will portray the escape artist as a spy for Britain and as a debunker of con artists who pretended to be spiritualists, leading to the theory that his death was caused by the spiritual movement as payback. Apparently the idea is to make it fun and actiony, ala Guy Ritchie’s “Sherlock Holmes” remake. [THR]

Paul Haggis is set to return to the director’s chair in a remake of French thriller “Pour Elle” titled “The Next Three Days.” Haggis will write and direct the project which will center on an ordinary couple who find themselves in an unthinkable situation and have to make desperate choices that will test the limits of love.
