Cameras are now rolling in Montreal on "X-Men: Apocalypse" (don’t miss out on your chance to be an extra!) and it seems that director Bryan Singer will again be sharing every moment he can from the set. However, I would argue there are some things that are perhaps worth saving until all the VFX are done, or we can see them in action.
Case in point, this first look at Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler. I’m sure the costume and makeup are fine, but the cheesy and cheap effects, especially played out on Instagram (see below), does no favors at all. Again, the final result will be fine I’m sure, but from a marketing perspective, it ain’t so hot. But maybe let’s turn our attention to the plot of the movie.

Chatting with IGN, Oscar Isaac, who will be playing the film’s titular villain, talks about what we can expect from his evil team of riders: Death, Famine, Pestilence, and War. “Without giving anything away, the recruitment of the Four Horsemen is very cool. It’s very interesting the way that he does that," he told IGN. "You know the idea of — the way that cult leaders do — they find people that are in need of something and try to fulfill that thing in them — as it relates to every one of the Horseman… On an individual level he’s able to reveal the true power of his Horsemen and what’s true to them. And I think to reveal the weakness — how weak we’ve become. Because this is an ancient entity. So to come to — I think 1983 — and say, ‘How did the world become so weak? How did we allow ourselves to become to weak and to enslave ourselves.’ I think that’s where he’s coming from.”
"X-Men: Apocalypse" hits on May 27th.
