It’s going to be a helluva 2016 for Ricky Gervais. He’s currently in production on a new movie featuring his "The Office" character David Brent; he’s hosting the Golden Globes; and in the can is a new comedy, "Special Correspondents," which makes its debut on Netflix this spring.
The streaming giant is getting the ball rolling on getting the word out by dropping the first images from the film. Written, directed, and starring Gervais, along with Eric Bana and Vera Farmiga, the movie follows a struggling New York-based radio journalist whose arrogance and decadent lifestyle has hindered his career. With his job on the line, he fakes front-line war reports from the comfort of his hideout above a Spanish restaurant in Queens. That sounds like a pretty great premise.
Co-starring Kelly Macdonald, Kevin Pollak, America Ferrera, Raúl Castillo, and Benjamin Bratt, "Special Correspondents" arrives on Netflix on April 29th.
