First Look: Spike Jonze's Robot Love-Story Short 'I'm Here' And James Franco's Poem Adaptation Short 'Herbert White'

As promised, Spike Jonze’s robot love-story “I’m Here” starring Andrew Garfield will debut at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

Jonze’s We Love You So blog though has our first look at the film with an image of what is presumed to be protagonist Garfield as a lo-fi robot engaging in some sort of recharging/plugged in regiment? Whatever it is, we’re loving the look of it. Co-starring will be the likes of Sienna Guillory, Daniel London, Annie Hardy and Michael Berry.

The short was previously revealed to be part of an advertising campaign for Swedish alcohol company, Absolut Vodka, to feature L.A. indie rockers Moonrats as a fake band called The Lost Trees led by David Kramer and reunites Jonze with his regular crew of collaborators including cinematographer Adam Kimmel.

Another big-name short film screening at Sundance is James Franco’s film-school adaptation of Frank Dibart’s poem “Herbert White” starring Michael Shannon who is seen in this first look shot.

Imagine being a classmate of Franco’s at NYU and having to compete with his resources? “Herbert White” follows the story of a man as he “struggles with his inner demons while trying to live a normal family life.”

“I’m Here” will play as part of Shorts Program I at Sundance screening from January 21st while “Herbert White” plays as apart of Shorts Program III screening from January 22nd.
