First Look: Zack Snyder's 'Legend Of The Guardians' Photos & Trailer

Update: now with trailer below.

Here is your first look at Zack Snyder’s upcoming children’s animated feature, “Legend Of The Guardians,” which was produced by the same team behind George Miller’s ‘Happy Feet’ films, Animal Logic.

Snyder originally described the film, based on Kathryn Lasky’s books, as “Lord Of The Rings” with owls. The story centering on Soren, a young owl enthralled by his father’s epic stories of the Guardians of Ga’Hoole, a mythic band of winged warriors who had fought a great battle to save all of owlkind from the evil Pure Ones.

“There are a lot of intense themes in the books,” Snyder says. “Scenes that might not seem so intense on the written page but would be too much on screen. We wanted to pull back a little. At some point, I figured, I had to do something my kids could watch. Now I’m the one into the stories and mythology.”

‘Guardians’ features the vocal talents of an ecletic bunch of predominantly Australian talent including Geoffrey Rush, Helen Mirren, Jim Sturgess, Hugo Weaving (who no doubt knows nothing about the story), Abbie Cornish, Emilie de Ravin, Ryan Kwanten, David Wenham, Sam Neill, Deborra-Lee Furness (Hugh Jackman’s wife) and Richard Roxburgh (director for the Eric Bana-Kodi Smit-McPhee starrer “Romulus, My Father”).

From the looks of it, the film could very well be a hit with kids, especially with a December 9th release in Australia. According to IMDB, the film will hit stateside September 24th.
