First Pics Of Shia LaBeouf, Brit Marling & Robert Redford In 'The Company You Keep'

nullAs we barrel towards the fall festival season, we're going to be seeing images and clips from movies that don't feature superheroes or explosions, which frankly, is kind of a relief. Earlier today, we got a healthy six minutes from Joe Wright's "Anna Karenina," and now, the first official pics from Robert Redford's latest directorial effort (which he also stars in) "The Company You Keep" have dropped as well.

Collider has the snaps from the movie, which shot last year, and it does seem promising. Penned by Lem Dobbs (”Kafka,” “The Limey," "Haywire”), and based on the novel by Neil Gordon, the story follows a former Weather Underground militant Jim Grant (Redford), wanted by the FBI for a Bank Of Michigan robbery 30 years ago, who must go on the run when his true identity is exposed by a young, ambitious reporter (Shia LaBeouf) hell-bent on making a name for himself. The strong cast is rounded out by Brit Marling, Anna Kendrick, Terence Howard, Brendan Gleeson, Sam Elliott, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, Nick Nolte, Chris Cooper and 11-year-old "America's Got Talent" finalist Jackie Evancho

To be honest, Redford's last outing "The Conspirator" struggled under its heavy handed politicking and we're wary of that coming to the fore here. But Dobbs has proven to deliver narratives that twist in unexpected ways and the cast is nothing to sneeze. The film is apparently eyeing a spring 2013 release date, which doesn't necessarily scream Oscar contender, but should it make waves on the fall circuit, we can expect an awards contending run at the least, so we're eager to see how this plays out.nullnull
