First Poster For Lone Scherfig's Rom-Com 'One Day' Starring Anne Hathaway & Jim Sturgess

Valentine’s Day has come and gone for another year, and workplaces are buzzing with what everyone got up to last night. Rom-com marathons on your own at home, candlelit champagne dinners out with a loved one, or something in between — in this writer’s case, an evening spent in a dingy hotel room with three Romanian acrobats, some strobe lighting, a tank of oxygen, a live goat, a series of dressing gown cords, and Lou Reed‘s “Berlin” on repeat. What? Love comes in many different forms.

Our disgusting sexual practices aside, Focus Features used V-day to debut the first poster from one of the more eagerly anticipated romantic comedies of the year, “One Day.” The picture, based on the best-seller by David Nicholls (“Starter For Ten“), follows a young man and woman on one day a year, for twenty years, after they share a one-night stand at university. The absurdly attractive pair, Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess, take the leads, with Patricia Clarkson, Ken Stott, Romola Garai and Rafe Spall all in support, and Danish helmer Lone Scherfig, who made a major breakthrough with her last film, the Oscar-nominated “An Education,” directing.

The poster premiered over at Yahoo (via Empire), and it’s a pretty little one-sheet — nothing ground-breaking, but significantly classier than the majority of its competition in the genre. Indeed, the image, which sees future-Catwoman and him-out-of-“Across-the-Universe” locking lips on the street, already has more sex and romance in it than any romantic comedy released in the last year.

The early buzz on the film is very strong, Focus placed the film with a key summer release date last month, and we’re looking forward to seeing more; we imagine a trailer will be along any day now. “One Day” begins its roll-out on July 8th.
