First Poster & Trailer For Debra Granik's 'Winter's Bone'

The first poster and trailer have been unveiled for Debra Granik’s Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner “Winter’s Bone.”

The film is an adaptation of Daniel Woodrell’s novel of the same name and centers on a tough 17-year-old girl, Ree Dolly, who goes in search of her father, a meth-dealer who has jumped bail and put the family’s Missouri home up as collateral, threatening the stability of his sick wife and three kids.

Our IFFBoston review described the film as a strong, compelling work despite becoming “rather monotonous and unnecessarily self-important by its end.” Lead Jennifer Lawrence drew strong praise from the film’s run at Sundance, comparable to that of Carey Mulligan at last year’s fest, in what is “ostensibly a character study on Ree.”

Also starring will be the likes of John Hawkes, Lauren Sweetser, Kevin Breznahan, Isaiah Stone and Shelley Waggener in what is being ear-marked as an potential dark horse come award-season — though we’re not sure it’ll have the legs to crack the populist 10.

“Winter’s Bone” hits theaters June 11th through Roadside Attractions.
