First 'Scott Pilgrim' Poster Debuts At Showest'; Is Trailer Imminent?

Updated: The official ‘SPVSTW’ site has the actual version of the teaser poster that’s not shot off a stand.

We’re only six months away from the release of Edgar Wright’s “Scott Pilgrim Versus The World,” easily one of our most anticipated films of the year, and the film’s marketing materials are starting to appear. While at Showest, SlashFilm found a first official teaser poster, and it’s unsurprisingly ace.

Taken almost exactly from the title page of the first comic book, “Scott Pilgrim’s Precious Little Life,” it suggests how faithful Wright seems to be keeping to the spirit of the book (but, at least from the looks of the script, he won’t be afraid to depart from the source material where necessary, unlike certain other comic adaptations; *cough* “Watchmen” *cough*), and we already feel better about Michael Cera’s casting in the lead. We’re not 100% sold on the tagline, “An epic of epic epicness” yet, but hopefully it’ll grow on us.

In related news, we heard some talk from sources at a U.K. cinema chain that the first teaser trailer for the film is set to debut with the British release of “Kick-Ass” on April 2nd, which makes plenty of sense — both are action-fueled comic adaptations, and Universal are distributing both films in the territory. We imagine that it’ll be online around the same time, and in U.S. theaters with “Clash of the Titans.” The book’s creator Bryan Lee O’Malley announced on Twitter over the weekend that “There is a “Scott Pilgrim Vs The World” teaser trailer. It will give your brain a heart attack. It’s coming… eventually,” which would seem to back this up. Update 2: Universal have been in touch, and said that the reports of the trailer debut were incorrect. Looks like we have a little longer to wait, we’re afraid…
