First Teaser Poster For Walles Salles' Adaptation Of Jack Kerouac's 'On The Road'

Here’s the first glimpse at a teaser poster from Cannes for Walter Salles‘ upcoming adaptation of the iconic Beat Generation novel “On The Road” by Jack Kerouac.

The film was rumored to have footage screening on the Croisette and is currently selling like wildfire with distribution deals sealed for many territories including Australia and the U.K. but — somewhat, shockingly — it has still yet to find a home stateside. That may very well change by the end of Cannes but with Francis Ford Coppola‘s American Zoetrope, Salles’ Rio de Janeiro-based Videofilmes and the U.K.’s Film4 on board, it’s in pretty capable hands.

Starring Garrett Hedlund and Sam Riley as protagonists Dean Moriarty and Sal Paradise (surrogates of Kerouac and Neal Cassady), the novel follows the two on a journey across the North American landscape in pursuit of self-knowledge and experience, with a stellar supporting cast put together, including Kristen Stewart, Viggo Mortensen, Amy Adams, Kirsten Dunst, Tom Sturridge, Steve Buscemi, Terrence Howard, Alice Braga and Elisabeth Moss.

The pic will also mark a reunion for Salles with the majority of his behind the camera team from “The Motorcycle Diaries” including writer Jose Rivera, DP. Eric Gautier, production designer Carlos Conti and composer Gustavo Santaolalla. Interestingly, there’s also been news of a second photography stint by Salles and Hedlund as they traveled through the back roads of the U.S. in a ’49 Hudson in an attempt to recreate the trip taken by the duo for additional second unit lensing.

We can’t wait to see what they’ve created for us here. A fall festival premiere is very likely with Venice a possible suspect. [Twitpic viaOnTheRoadFilm]
