Florence Pugh is set to become one of the biggest stars on the planet this year, as she’s awaiting the release of “Black Widow,” which will introduce the acclaimed actor to her widest audience yet. But this comes on the heels of some great performances in features such as “Midsommar,” “Little Women,” and “Fighting with My Family.” So, it’s no surprise that Apple was quick to snatch up her latest film, the upcoming feature, “Dolly.”
According to Deadline, Pugh is set to star in the sci-fi court drama, “Dolly,” which will be distributed by Apple TV+. The film is based on a short story from author Elizabeth Bear and is set to be adapted by Drew Pearce and Vanessa Taylor. “Dolly” tells the story of a robot “companion doll” that kills its owner but claims to be innocent.
In addition to her films detailed above, Pugh has a number of projects lined up already. She already has her next MCU appearance figured out post-“Black Widow,” as she’s set to show up in the new Disney+ series “Hawkeye.” In addition, she’s currently in production on Olivia Wilde’s new film, “Don’t Worry Darling,” which she is a lead in.

The writing duo of Vanessa Taylor and Drew Pearce is also really exciting. Taylor is probably best known for writing the scripts for films such as “The Shape of Water,” “Divergent,” and “Hillbilly Elegy.” And Pearce is a well-known writer-director, who has written features such as “Iron Man 3,” “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation,” “Hotel Artemis,” and “Hobbs & Shaw.”
It’s unclear when “Dolly” will arrive on Apple TV+, but with Pugh and these writers attached, there’s definitely going to be a lot of eyes on this project.
