'For All Mankind' Clips: Joel Kinnaman Stars In Alternate NASA History Series For Apple TV+

Last year the Ryan Gosling-starring picture “First Man” dramatized perhaps the most patriotic moment in U.S. history: the moon landing. Earlier this year, the documentary “Apollo 11” revealed breathtaking IMAX footage of that same event. Now, Apple TV+ is releasing the new series “For All Mankind” that posits the question: what if Russia made it to the moon before the U.S.?

The historical revision drama will star Joel Kinnaman, Michael Dorman, Sarah Jones, and Shantel VanSanten. What appears to set “For All Mankind” aside from other alternate histories is that it’s a positive depiction of the way history could have turned.

In an interview with Collider, showrunner Ronald D. Moore said, “Alternate history, not always, but tends to go to the dark and the dystopian. Terrible things happen and awful things have taken place, and the alternate world is a very dark and brooding one. Ours is going in the opposite direction. It’s a very positive one.”

In essence, the premise of the series drives NASA and the U.S. to push even farther into space in a relentless pursuit of being the best space program in the world.
