Apple TV+’s “For All Mankind” was built on a fascinating alternative historical premise: “what would have happened if the global space race had never ended” after the Soviet Union succeeds in the first crewed Moon landing ahead of the United States. So, in other words, the space race keeps escalating, in part because the U.S. cannot claim victory and wants to continue competing at all costs.

Season two moved two decades forward into 1980 with a new battle to face: Mars. Yep, that’s where season three of “For All Mankind” is headed, to the 1990s and a fictional era where travel to Mars is a real possibility.
The ensemble cast returning for season three includes Joel Kinnaman, Shantel VanSanten, Jodi Balfour, Sonya Walger, Krys Marshall, Cynthy Wu, Casey W. Johnson, Coral Peña, and Wrenn Schmidt, along with new series regular Edi Gathegi who will play Dev Ayesa, a charismatic visionary with his sights set on the stars.
Its ratings may not challenge some of the other streamers, but “For All Mankind” has been called one of the best shows on TV right now and its following is rather devoted. Here’s the season three synopsis:
