French Actor Gilles Lellouche Joins 'Sherlock Holmes 2'

Yes, “Sherlock Holmes 2” is still shooting and apparently, still casting too. Speaking recently on the Canal+ program “Le Grand Journal” (via Cinema Teaser) French actor Gilles Lellouche revealed he had been cast in the Guy Ritchie film which is gearing up to shoot in Paris and Strasbourg.

Lellouche was informed Wednesday that he was cast in the film, and while there’s no word yet on what the role will be, we’d imagine it’s likely a minor part. Lellouche is not well known on this side of the ocean, but fans of French cinema might recognize him as a frequent collaborator with Guillaume Canet, having appeared in his films “Whatever You Say,” “Tell No One” and his most recent effort, “Little White Lies.” Lellouche also a had a role in the French gangster sensation, “Mesrine: Killer Instinct.”

According to the French paper Les Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace, “filming would take place for a few days at the foot of Notre Dame [Cathedral].” It was also reported that Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. would not be in the scenes shooting in that area, which indicates they are minor sequences or, as Cinema Teaser suggests, it might be a ruse to keep paparazzi away from the set. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

“Sherlock Holmes 2” hits theaters on December 16, 2011.
