‘French Dispatch’ First Look Images Showcase Wes Anderson’s All-Star Cast & Multiple Time Periods

Yes, it’s true—Wes Anderson films definitely share a distinct look. Whether it’s an animated film like “Isle of Dogs” or the live-action “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” you can spot a Wes Anderson film a mile away. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. And that doesn’t mean that the filmmaker won’t surprise you every now and then, as we see in the upcoming film “The French Dispatch.”

Thanks to The New Yorker, which obviously got the first look images due to the outlet’s influence on Anderson and the actual film, we finally get a peek at what “The French Dispatch” actually looks like. Literally. You see, included in one of the photos is the actual exterior of the building where Anderson’s fictional French Dispatch is published.

For those not familiar, here’s the synopsis for Anderson’s upcoming film:

“The French Dispatch is the European edition of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun – a factual, weekly report on the subjects of world politics, the arts (high and low), fashion, fancy cuisine/fine drink, and diverse stories of human-interest set in faraway quartiers.”

And in the images, we see some first looks at the cast that inhabits the world that Anderson is creating, including the various time-periods accentuated by some of the photos showcasing the black & white segments of the film. As you can see in the images, just about every face is a famous actor. The cast is a whos-who of talent, including includes Frances McDormand, Timothée Chalamet, Benicio Del Toro, Jeffrey Wright, Adrien Brody, Léa Seydoux, Tilda Swinton, Mathieu Amalric, Lyna Khoudri, Stephen Park, Elisabeth Moss, Saoirse Ronan, Owen Wilson, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz, Jason Schwartzman, Henry Winkler, and Bill Murray.
