'Friends From College' Trailer: An Impending Wedding Leads To All Sorts Of Hijinks For These 40-Somethings

Friends from College” is a bit of a headscratcher for Netflix. The series has an incredible cast and a premise that should be pretty easy to mine for gold. However, the first season was far from a slam dunk, and while it showed promise, there wasn’t a whole lot on display that encouraged people to give a Season 2 a try. But here we are, about a year later, and it looks like, against all odds, “Friends from College” might have a pretty good new season.

In the trailer for Season 2, we meet up with all the cast of characters from the first season, as six Harvard alums in their 40s living in New York City. Except for this time, they’re all gathering for a fun-filled wedding weekend, leading to old flames being reignited, past relationships bringing up bad memories, and yes, plenty of alcohol-induced shenanigans.

Sure, they fooled us once with “Friends from College,” but this trailer gives hope that maybe the folks behind the scenes have figured it out for Season 2. The cast includes Keegan-Michael Key, Cobie Smulders, Annie Parisse, Nat Faxon, Fred Savage, and Jae Suh Park, with Billy Eichner and Sarah Chalke in guest-starring roles.

The eight-episode Season 2 of “Friends from College” hits Netflix on January 11.

Here’s the synopsis:

The second season of Friends From College follows six Harvard alums in their 40s living in New York City and the complicated relationships they have with each other. It’s been a year since Ethan & Sam’s affair was exposed to the 4 other friends – including Lisa, Ethan’s wife – and the friend group is still fractured. No one has heard from Lisa, Ethan has been living a repentant year of writing a YA novel, and Sam has been trying to repair her marriage with her husband Jon. But with Max’s wedding coming up, the friends won’t be able to avoid each other much longer. Between the engagement party, bachelor party, and wedding, the six will have to overcome the destruction in their past and figure out how to function as a friend group again. Will they be able to move forward or will they regress back to their old destructive patterns once again?
