Fugitive, Warrior, Survivor, Legend: Watch The CinemaCon Trailer For 'The Wolverine'

The Wolverine Logan ViperCinemaCon is the annual event where theater owners and studio types come together to massage each other, tell each other it’s going to be okay, and then confer about how many bajillion dollars movies will make this year. Part of that process is showing off footage to get theater owners all hot and buttery and while in years past this kind of stuff has tended to say under the radar (for example, Oscar talk for “Life Of Pibegan at CinemaCon last year after some early material was screened, well before the public saw any trailers), things are changing. The monstrous CinemaCon trailer for Guillermo Del Toro‘s “Pacific Rim” dropped a couple of days ago, now Fox is following suit with their “The Wolverine” spot.

And…it’s decidedly less epic. Running about a minute long, there’s a lot of whizz-bang stuff, however it’s not the most pulse-pounding thing you’ll see, but it does promise some fang bangin’ action, which is what theater owner types want to see anyway, and they’ll probably sleep well knowing that it doesn’t look as dumb as “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.” At the same time, we’re not quite sold on it yet, though the Japanese setting and promise of Silver Samurai and Viper in the mix are intriguing.
