While the rest of the world anxiously awaits the new season of "Game Of Thrones," there is one person who gets to see the new batch of episodes ahead of everyone else: President Barack Obama. The sixth season, which isn’t even being sent to press, has been sent to the White House, with President Obama requesting screeners of the upcoming season from HBO. “When the commander-in-chief says, ‘I want to see advanced episodes,’ what are you gonna do?” showrunner David Benioff said. However, Obama and everyone else better savor every last moment, because the series is winding down.

“I think we’re down to our final 13 episodes after this season. We’re heading into the final lap. That’s the guess, though nothing is yet set in stone, but that’s what we’re looking at,” Benioff told Variety.
This isn’t exactly surprising. Last year, it was reported that "Game Of Thrones" would wrap up after season eight, and the trade suggests that with thirteen episodes to follow, HBO may entertain the notion of two shortened, final seasons, "Mad Men" style. And the network is already feeling the sting of saying goodbye to their lucrative, massively popular show.
Basically, don’t count out the idea of spin-offs or prequels, an idea which has already been floated, though nothing in an official capacity has been brewing just yet.
