I probably sound like a broken record by this point because whenever Gareth Evans is mentioned, it’s utterly important that I implore everyone to watch “The Raid” films. They are two of the best action films, period, let alone of the past decade. And because of that, Evans will always have my attention when it comes to new projects, especially his latest film, “Havoc,” as it is set to star none other than Tom Hardy. Yes, please!
According to Deadline, Gareth Evans has decided to go ahead and make his Netflix partnership official by signing an exclusive deal to produce and direct films for the streaming service. This news isn’t too shocking considering his last film, 2018’s “Apostle,” also was released by Netflix. However, with the news of the exclusive deal, it’s also being announced that his next feature, “Havoc” is already in the works with Tom Hardy set to lead the cast.
The plot sounds perfect for fans of “The Raid,” as “Havoc” tells the story of a bruised detective that goes on a mission through the criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son after a drug deal goes awry. That sort of “man on a mission against everyone” vibe is what makes “The Raid” films so great, and we all know that Evans can shoot the hell out of action. Not to mention, Tom Hardy is a beast of an actor and should only enhance the entire project.

Hardy is coming off the work he did in last year’s “Capone.” His next film, the highly-anticipated sequel, “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” was already supposed to be released but COVID keeps pushing that Sony film’s release date further and further away. At this point, 2022 seems the most likely destination. There’s no word on when “Havoc” will begin production but hopefully, it’s sooner rather than later.
