This was originally going to be smart-ass piece about models-turned-actresses, but when we looked up Gemma Ward’s tiny filmography, we learned that she was nominated for a couple of awards for her turn in the Australian indie drama “The Black Balloon.” Guess you learn something new every day.
Anyway, the model/actress is set to feature in her biggest film to date with a “small speaking part” in the upcoming blockbuster “Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.” She will play a mermaid, and most likely a pal of the other mermaid in the film played by Astrid Berges-Frisbey. Ward will certainly have a huge crew of talent around in the film that stars Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, Stephen Graham, Geoffrey Rush and Sam Clafin.
Shooting on the film is now underway in Hawaii, but Ward’s scenes won’t be shot until August. “Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” sails into theaters on May 20, 2011.
