As an Oscar winner, Christoph Waltz is well-known for his acting chops. But now, he will finally make his directorial debut. He couldn’t have picked a more interesting option with “Georgetown.”

“Georgetown” stars Waltz as Ulrich Mott, a charismatic man in a marriage with a much older woman named Elsa that turns the heads of nearly everyone around him. But when Elsa is found dead in their home, her daughter Amanda immediately suspects Ulrich killed her. The police investigation into her death mirrors the real-life murder of socialite Viola Herms Drath documented in a New York Times Magazine article.

“Georgetown” was written by Tony-winning playwright David Auburn (“Proof“). Vanessa Redgrave (“Atonement“), Anette Benning (“The Kids Are All Right”), Corey Hawkins (“Straight Outta Compton“), and Laura de Carteret (“Y: The Last Man“) join Waltz in the star-studded cast of this movie. “Georgetown” stars Waltz, Academy Award winner Vanessa Redgrave (Julia), and Academy Award nominee Annette Bening (American Beauty). In this thrilling true-crime story filled with twists, turns, and political turmoil, Waltz stars as Ulrich Mott, an eccentric and smooth-talking social climber who seems to have everyone in Washington, D.C., wrapped around his finger. But when his wealthy, well-connected, and much older wife (Redgrave) turns up dead in their home, her daughter Amanda (Bening) suspects Ulrich may not be all that he seems as the police investigation begins to uncover a larger deception that goes far deeper than anyone ever imagined.
“Georgetown” will be released in select theaters on May 14 via Paramount. It will subsequently drop on video-on-demand and available for purchase beginning on May 18. Take a look at the new trailer below.
