While it might seem like all the quality movies of the year are crammed into the last few weeks of December, let us remind you that the New Year won't be lacking choices for smart cinemagoers. With new films from Steven Soderbergh and Park Chan-Wook coming in the first few months of 2013, it's as good a time as any to start getting excited about what's to come. A couple of new one-sheets are here to get things rolling.
First up, following the more evocative poster earlier this month, comes a newer, much more standard affair one-sheet for "Side Effects." Big head approach aside, it still makes no mistake that this is a medical thriller, with the story following Rooney Mara, whose character turns to pills to deal with the anxiety when her husband, played by Channing Tatum, is released from prison. A great cast including Jude Law, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Vinessa Shaw are on board for Soderbergh's penultimate film. It goes across the counter on February 8, 2013.
Meanwhile, it's family first in the latest spread for "Stoker." Nicole Kidman, Mia Wasikowska and Matthew Goode stand for the portrait in this thriller about the mysterious Uncle Charlie (Goode), who comes to live with India (Wasikowska) and her mother (Kidman), but is suspected of sinister deeds when bodies start stacking up. It plays Sundance next month, and hits theaters on March 1st. [Fandango/EW]
