A comedy superstar in the ’80s who slowed down her output but no was no less a presence in the 1990s, Goldie Hawn was last seen on the big screen in 2002’s "The Banger Sisters." Since then, the actress has quietly stepped away from the limelight, and her time away from movies has only grown. However, Hawn isn’t some kind of Malick-like recluse. A few years ago, she had a pilot brewing at HBO called "The Viagra Diaries" in which she would’ve starred, but she exited the developing series; and she was attached to an early cast of Adam Shankman‘s "This Is Where I Leave You," but again, she didn’t stick around. And now there’s another project which may mark her return.
First reported by Kyle Buchanan at Vulture, and confirmed by The Wrap, Hawn is in talks for Amy Schumer’s untitled comedy that’s slated to be directed by Jonathan Levine ("50/50," "The Night Before"). Katie Dippold ("The Heat," "Ghostbusters") has penned the script, based on a pitch by Schumer, that will be a mother/daughter comedy about a family vacation gone wrong, and Hawn is eyeing the Mom role.
That’s about all the intel for now, but Hawn returning with the hot comedienne of the moment couldn’t be more appropriate. We’ll see if this works out, or if Hawn decides to stay off screen.
Jig’s up: I hear GOLDIE HAWN is in serious talks to play Amy Schumer’s mom. It’d be Goldie’s first screen role in almost 15 years!
