'the goop lab' Teaser: Gwyneth Paltrow Showcases How Orgasms, Exorcisms & Psychedelic Drugs Might Help You

While film fans probably know Gwyneth Paltrow best for her work on the big screen, the award-winning actress is also a successful entrepreneur and has spent the last several years working on her brand of self-help products called goop. (Yes, it’s lowercase because…quirky?) Well, now she’s teamed with Netflix to bring goop to the masses in a new series titled “the goop lab.” (Again, yes, it’s all lowercase because…goop?)

In the first trailer for “the goop lab,” we are shown the true nature of Paltrow’s reality series. It’s quite clear that Netflix and the actress are about to release a six-episode infomercial for what is basically Paltrow’s pseudo-science-based product line. Under the guise of a “lab,” the title is a bit of a misnomer. This is no scientific docuseries analyzing the effects of self-help products on your body and your mind. Instead, it’s a group of four folks (including Paltrow) who laugh and joke about some crazy adventures they recently went on involving some far-out, non-scientific mumbo jumbo that’s supposed to help your mind and/or body.

One of them does “years of therapy in 5 hours” thanks to a psychedelic drug. Another has an exorcism…for reasons unknown. (Perhaps she’s infected with a demon? Hard to know for certain when you watch the trailer.) And Paltrow looks to get some sort of procedure on her face. Oh, and women have orgasms because sex sells!

For those thinking that I’m being a bit too harsh on goop and the new Netflix series, a quick Google search is all you need to know that Paltrow and her company have been making headlines for years releasing products that claim to be scientifically proven, but the validity of those claims are a bit…suspect. You know, like stickers that are somehow going to “promote healing.” Ugh.

Here’s the synopsis:
