Goran Visnjic Joins 'The Counselor'; Winona Ryder Goes To The 'Homefront' & 'Breacher' Adds Two More

nullWhile Ridley Scott puts the production of "The Counselor" on hold in the wake of his brother Tony Scott's death, when cameras start rolling again we can look for another face in those set pics: Goran Visnjic. With the "E.R." actor booking a role on the upcoming ABC drama "Red Widow," it has also been revealed he's joined Ridley Scott film as well, although his role hasn't been disclosed. Penned by Cormac McCarthy, the story follows a prosecutor who dabbles in dealing drugs to earn a quick buck and gets in way over his head. Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Rosie Perez, Dean Norris and John Leguizamo co-star in the film that currently hasn't been slated with a release date.

It seems Winona Ryder is enjoying working with James Franco, even if the results are pretty dubious like that low-rent trailer for "The Letter." You'll see her next alongside The Franco in the Venice-premiering pic "The Iceman," and after that, she has nabbed a role in the actioner, "Homefront." The film will find both Franco and Ryder the unlikely co-stars of Jason Statham in the Sylvester Stallone-penned story that follows an ex-DEA agent (Franco) who moves his family to a quiet town only to find it under the thumb of a ruthless meth kingpin named Gator (Franco). In an equally fascinating turn, Ryder will play a biker chick who is allied with Gator. Um, this movie already sounds amazing. Production begins next month.

Lastly, David Ayer's Agatha Christie-inspired cop flick, "Breacher," continues casting up, this time with Olivia Williams (Miss Cross forever) and Max Martini ("Saving Private Ryan," the upcoming "Pacific Rim") coming on board. Penned by Skip Woods ("Swordfish," "The A-Team") the film tells the tale of an elite DEA task force who rob an underground drug cartel while operating under the guise of a warranted raid. They think they’re in the clear, until they all start being bumped off one by one. Martini will play Pyro (lol), one of the DEA team, with Williams a detective looking to take them down. They join Sam Worthington, Terrence Howard, Joe Manganiello, Dawn Olivieri and Malin Akerman with production set to start in October. [Deadline/THR/THR/Deadline]
