Greedo Still Shoots First In Digital Release Of 'Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope'

Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope Han Solo And Greedo (skip crop)"Star Wars" fans are ever hopeful of two things that will probably never even happen: that George Lucas will restore the theatrical cuts of the original trilogy without the extra VFX sauce on them, and that Han Solo will shoot first again. And so, perhaps it’s not surprising that with the digital release of the six films to date coming tomorrow, diehards crossed their fingers and wished again.

Badass Digest put forth the chatter that Han will shoot first in this version of "Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope," but it was just as quickly debunked. The folks at Australia’s Dark Horizons — where it is already tomorrow — have downloaded the film, and Greedo still shoots first, this time in HD glory.

While Disney owns Lucasfilm now, let’s be clear, there will be no changes to the original trilogy because as far as George Lucas is concerned, that’s the way he wants them, and Greedo shooting first is his final vision for the story. So we’re probably all just going to have to accept it along with the VFX chaos he added in subsequent years. But that doesn’t mean this rumor won’t keep popping up.
