Greg Kinnear, Alan Arkin And Billy Crudup Team For 'The Convincer'; HBO Developing Anita Bryant Biopic & Teaser For John Carney's 'Zonad'

Greg Kinnear, Alan Arkin and Billy Crudup will headline Jill Sprecher’s Midwestern crime drama “The Convincer.” Pic centers on a desperate insurance salesman who devises a plan to get his hands on a rare violin with shooting to begin in Minnesota on February 8th.

HBO is developing a biopic on former beauty queen and singer Anita Bryant, known for her work as a anti-gay activist. Bryant was featured via archival footage in Gus Van Sant’s “Milk” as a rival to Harvey Milk’s campaign. Darren Star (“Sex And The City”) will direct from a Chad Hodge script.

Orlando Bloom will lead “The Good Doctor” with Michael Pena, Troy Garity, Courtney Ford, Taraji. P Henson, Rob Morrow and J.K. Simmons set to join. Lance Daly will direct the John Enborn script which is described as a Hitchcockian thriler centering on a frustrated doctor looking to impress superiors and colleagues.

Salma Hayek has left George Tillman Jr’s actioner “Faster.” The Dwayne Johnson starrer centers on an ex-con trying to avenge death of his brother, murdered 10 years earlier when the two were double-crossed during a heist. Billy Bob Thornton and Maggie Grace co-star.

Here’s the teaser trailer for “Zonad,” an upcoming lo-fi comedy form John Carney of “Once” fame. The film follows a rehab escapee who is mistaken for an alien after coincidentally arriving in a small Irish town on the night of a rare comet sighting.
