'Guernsey Literary And Potato Peel Pie Society' Trailer With Lily James

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” is one of those projects that filmmakers have been trying to make for years. Once upon a time Kenneth Branagh was slated to direct, while Kate Winslet and Rebecca Ferguson both rotated out of the lead role. Now, Lily James, who recently spent some time by the side of Gary Oldman‘s Winston Churchill in “Darkest Hour,” returns to the horror of WWII for this historical drama.

Co-starring Glen Powell, Matthew Goode, Jessica Brown Findlay, Katherine Parkinson, Tom Courtenay, and Penelope Wilton, this adaptation of the best-seller by Annie Barrows and Mary Ann Shaffer‘s follows a young woman who decides to write about a book club that formed during the dark days of WWII, and uncovers more secrets than she was expecting. Lily James plays free-spirited journalist Juliet Ashton, who forms a life-changing bond with the delightful and eccentric Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, when she decides to write about the book club they formed during the occupation of Guernsey in WWII.

Directed by Mike Newell (“Mona Lisa Smile,” “Great Expectations“), “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” opens in the U.K. on April 20th. No word yet on a U.S. date.
