Guy Pearce, Cloris Leachman & More Join 'Mis-Fits,' M. Ward & Ingrid Michaelson To Contribute Original Music

Guy Pearce and Cloris Leachman will topline the cast of playwright and author L.D. Napier’s directorial debut, “Mis-Fits,” with Catalina Sandino Moreno (“Maria Full Of Grace”), Seymour Cassel (“Rushmore”) and Virginie Ledoyen (“The Beach”) also joining the film.

“It’s a wacky comedy in the tone of ‘Harold and Maude,'” producer Doug Claybourne said of the story, which is set to follow a “necro-detective” presumably played by Pearce who goes in search of people’s lost, dead relatives. Something along the lines of the Miles character in “Lost,” we presume? Cinematographer Affonso Beato, best known for his work on Stephen Frears’ “The Queen,” will also be teaming with Napier, as will production designer Richard Hoover (“Dead Man Walking”).

Interestingly, indie-pop singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson is noted to be contributing an original song to the film which will reportedly feature music from indie-folk favourite M. Ward. No word yet if other artists will be sought to round out the soundtrack. Produced by Claybourne through his Make It Happen Prods. shingle, filming on the project is set to begin in May. [THR]
